Kira Noel Rymer
Parents: Rodney and Donna Rymer
Elementary school: Bostian Elementary School
Middle school: China Grove Middle School
College: Columbia International University majoring in business and youth ministry
Career goal: Own my own business and lead youth ministry
Sports: Volleyball, swim team and track
Leadership positions: Vice president of the National Honor Society, treasurer of Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Outside of school: RCVC J/O volleyball, club sand volleyball
Defining moment: Making the commitment to attend Columbia International University for the next four years. This big step will help me grow as a Christian so that I can reach others with my faith.
Secret to high school success: I’m not afraid to step out of the box and try new things (like leading the school in a spirit dance at a pep rally). I don’t conform to others’ expectations. I stay true to myself.
If I had $10 million, I would: Go on missions trips to lead others to Christ, traveling to places in the world helping people in need.
Makenzie Brooke McGuire
Parents: Scott and Jennifer McGuire
Elementary school: Cox Mill Elementary School
Middle school: China Grove Middle School College: In the fall, I am attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to major in nursing.
Career goal: I hope to graduate from UNC with my bachelor’s of science in nursing and then plan to get a job working in the ICU. My plan is to work in the ICU for two years and then begin applying to anesthesia schools in hopes of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
Sports: I lettered in volleyball for two years and softball for four years.
Leadership positions: I was the co-president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club.
Defining moment: Getting into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill because it has always been my dream school.
Secret to high school success: Time management and a goal to get into UNC.
If I had $10 million, I would: Pay for mine and my siblings’ college. I would buy a house and a car and invest the rest of the money.
Michaela Lynn Hallman
Parents: Greg and Melody Hallman
Elementary school: China Grove Elementary School Middle school: China Grove Middle School
College: Plan to go to college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and major in biology
Career goal: To be an obstetrician-gynecologist.
Sports: I lettered in volleyball, which I played for three years, and cross country, which I did for only my senior year.
Outside of school: I am active in the youth group at First Reformed Church in Landis. I have also done various volunteer work, such as serving breakfast at Rowan Helping Ministries and participating in Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse.
Defining moment: Getting accepted into UNC Chapel Hill. I have worked for that acceptance for many years, and accomplishing it showed me that all of my hard work has paid off. It also motivates me to do my best as I plan to embark on my college journey.
Secret to high school success: Would probably be time management. With sports and other activities going on outside of school, the work load can be very stressful, but managing what you feed your time to is very important to make the most of your academic experience in high school.
If I had $10 million, I would: Donate some of it to charities that I support. I would also save some for my future, as well as my children’s futures, such as their college tuition. Lastly, I would give back to my family for all that they have done for me.

College: Attend Savannah College of Art and Design and major in photograph
Career goal: My goal in the future is to own my own photography business.
Sports: I lettered in Varsity Girls Soccer for junior and senior year.
Leadership positions: National Honor Society, National Society of Leadership and Success, Grade Officer in Crosby Scholars
Outside of school: I enjoy photography and hanging out with my friends.
My secret for being successful in high school is just to push yourself as much as you can, and always work towards your goals and dreams in life.
If I had $10 million, I would pay for college, make sure my family is taken care of, and start my own photography business.
