Sarah Margaret Dyer

College: I plan to attend the University of Georgia and major in business management.
Sports: East Rowan varsity tennis captain, track and Field, swim team, cheerleading
Leadership positions: National Honors Society parliamentarian, Student Leadership Team East Rowan representative, student body president
Outside of school: First Baptist Church Circle of Friends volunteer, Special Olympics volunteer
Defining moment: Attending North Carolina Governor’s School West was a defining moment in my life. I had the opportunity to be challenged academically and make incredible new friends.
Secret to high school success: Staying organized, getting involved, always giving my best effort.
If I had $10 million, I would: I would travel the world.
Jennifer Courtney Lohmeyer
Parents: Robert and Jodie Lohmeyer
Elementary and middle schools: Homeschool and North Carolina Connections Academy
College: I will attend a four-year university, and my journey begins by taking classes at Harvard starting in June. I plan to major in computer science or biology.
Career goal: I plan to become a veterinarian or a computer programmer
Sports: I participated in varsity cheerleading and varsity track
Leadership positions: I was also a member of FBLA, Junior Civitan, Sigma Phi Gamma, and Phi Theta
Outside of school: I volunteer at Faithful Friends, attend Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, played violin for the Salisbury Symphony Youth Orchestra for about seven years and was in competitive cheer for 11 years.
Defining moment: Winning the U.S. Finals for competitive cheer with Impact One Allstars North.
Secret to high school success: Balancing time for school with time for activities and sports. It was also helpful to have supportive family members such as my parents and grandparents, and great mentors including
Mr. Waddell, Mr. Rogers, Mrs. Adkins, and Mrs. German, who all taught me how to problem-solve and that I can accomplish anything with hard work and determination.
If I had $10 million, I would: Donate money to the animal shelter, to my church, and to local schools. I would also buy a house at the beach and save/invest the rest of the money.
Tyler James Johnson

College: UNC-Chapel Hill to major in neuroscience and premed
Career goal: Neurosurgeon
Leadership positions: Founder/president of Future Healthcare Professionals, secretary of National Honor Society, member of Junior Civitan and East Rowan Business Academy.
Outside of school: Junior volunteer at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and intern at Salisbury Orthopedic Associates.
Defining moment: When I discovered my passion to become a neurosurgeon.
Secret to high school success: The most important factor in success is believing in yourself: believing that you can do it, believing that you deserve it and believing that you will do it.
If I had $10 million, I would: Figure out how to make $10 million more.
Athena Thomas
Parents: Todd and Miriam Thomas
Elementary school: Grace Academy
Middle school: Erwin Middle School
College: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in biology or mathematics
Career goal: I plan to enter the medical field, but I am still not completely sure of what career I might want to pursue in the future.
Sports: I did varsity cheerleading during my senior year.
Leadership positions: I was president of Junior Civitan, president of FBLA, vice president of National Honor Society and secretary of Student Council.
Outside of school: I have participated in competitive cheerleading for nearly seven years and have volunteered at Rowan Helping Ministries serving many meals over the past couple of years.
Defining moment: One defining moment in my life would be skipping first grade. I remember since I would be missing some of what I had to learn to prepare for second grade, I was told I would most likely be behind in a few core topics. I had to work extremely hard to catch up to the other second graders, which is where I believe that my academic motivation sparked from, and has kept me driven throughout my entire educational career.
Secret to high school success: Throughout high school, I have had to learn the importance of persistence, which has truly been the greatest factor in my success. Regardless of how hard things get, I’ve always found that persisting with my work and obligations has given me the upper hand. in staying organized and keeping myself up to date in order to produce successful. results.
If I had $10 million, I would: First, set aside enough to pay for college, then pay off all debt/interest of my parents, buy myself and my parents newer homes, schedule one or two long-term vacations and then invest/save the rest.
