Blotter: Man arrested for assaulting officers as another felony assault case is pending

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was arrested on Saturday for two misdemeanor counts of assault on a government official/officer.

Demaurea Grant, 25, was arrested after allegedly punching two Rowan County Sheriff’s officers in the face after they were discharging the duty of a detention officer.

Grant is currently being held at the Rowan County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond for the two charges.

Meanwhile, another case of Grant’s is currently pending, as he was previously indicted and arrested on March 26, 2019 for a felony assault on a government official/employee with a deadly weapon, which occurred on Oct. 8, 2018.

In other arrest reports:

  • Justin Gray Morgan, 33, of Mooresville, was arrested on Saturday on a misdemeanor count of assault on a female. Morgan allegedly pushed a female into a headboard causing glass to break.
  • Joshua Michael Winecoff, 27, of Salisbury, was arrested on Sunday for a felony count of possession of meth at the Rowan County Detention Center.
  • William Eric Bruney, 48, of Kannapolis was arrested on Saturday for a misdemeanor count of stalking. On more than one occasion, Bruney allegedly harassed a woman by driving by her house and texting her numerous times.
