Post changes print edition frequency to three days

In response to economic challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the change in recent years as to how its readers consume community news and information, the Salisbury Post will begin publishing three print editions each week — on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

The Post will continue to publish a digital replica of the printed newspaper, referred to as the e-edition, on its website on Wednesday and Friday and update its website regularly with news stories as they happen.

The changes are effective immediately.

While the Post has seen large increases in web traffic to its website as well as net gains in print and digital-only subscribers, it’s among publications across the country that have experienced a decline in local advertising as non-essential businesses are closed and events are canceled.

“No matter the medium or print publication cycle frequency, informing our readers continues to be our top priority,” said Publisher John Carr. “The sharp increase in web traffic on salisburypost.com proves that more readers are consuming news digitally than ever before. Reducing print frequency enables us to meet our readers where they are and that’s why we’ll continue to put together a well-designed news product  and upload it to our website on the same schedule while printing fewer days. This change will allow our news teams to focus their efforts on providing news online as it occurs.”

The cost of a subscription to the Salisbury Post will remain the same. And the cost of the newspaper in racks and at news dealer single copy locations will be $1 on weekdays and $2 on weekends. All print edition subscribers have access to the digital replica of the newspaper published on the Post’s website. Subscribers who need to obtain log-in information to access the digital replica can email circulation@salisburypost.com with their name, contact information and address.

The Post sends out an email every morning containing a copy of the digital replica of the newspaper. It can also be accessed through the “e-edition” link at the top left of the newspaper’s website.

A digital-only subscription is $10.77 per month, including taxes.

“We remain committed to covering all the news surrounding COVID-19 and how we recover as a community from this unprecedented pandemic,” said Editor Josh Bergeron. “In these uncertain times, we are as committed as ever to serving Salisbury and Rowan County, and sincerely appreciate your trust and support of the Salisbury Post.”

Readers with questions should direct them to the Salisbury Post circulation department at 704-797-4213. Staff will be able to answer questions during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
