Blotter: Man arrested for trafficking heroin, other charges

SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged a Leasburg man Friday for felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin.

Austin Evan Watts, 31, was also charged with felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, second-degree trespassing, simple possession of controlled substance schedule II, simple possession of controlled substance schedule IV and resisting a public officer.

Watts allegedly was in possession of 12 grams of heroin, two syringes, methadone hydrochloride and clonazepam.

An arrest report states Watts disobeyed orders to place his hands behind his back and pulled away while being handcuffed by the deputy.

Watts allegedly trespassed on the premises of Copart in China Grove, according to the report.

He is being held under a $1,500 bond.

Other weekend arrests: 

• Grover Franklin Jones Jr., 31, of the 700 block of Wilson St., was charged by Salisbury police Friday on multiple counts.

Jones was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female, assault on a government official, communicating threats and resisting a public officer.

According to the arrest report, Jones placed his hand on the victim’s lower back and shoved her. He threatened the police officer and forced the officer’s hands off of him while he was being arrested.

The report also states Jones continuously turned and resisted when the officer was attempting to search him, walked away while the officer attempted to make an arrest and refused to identity himself.

Jones was wanted by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office for a previous charge, felony to obtain property by false pretenses, from Nov. 12. The report stated Jones attempted to obtain $3,4999.85 from Lion Shares Federal Credit Union by cashing a fraudulent check.

Jones does not have a bond due to the domestic nature of the case.

• Taniqua Robinson Dawson, 24, of Salisbury, was charged Friday by Rowan County sheriff’s with multiple counts of felony larceny by an employee.

According to the arrest report, Dawson took $260.95, a hat and two packs of cigarettes from her employer, Rushco BP gas station, from March 20 to April 1.

She was given a written promise to appear.

• Fallah Abdullah Muhamm Ortega, 55, of Salisbury, was charged by Salisbury Police on Saturday with breaking and entering into a Nissan Altima.
