SALISBURY — The April issue of Salisbury the Magazine, a publication of the Salisbury Post, has reached subscribers and is now available elsewhere.

Closures prompted by the response to COVID-19 have affected some of the normal distribution sites. If you can’t find a copy at your regular spot, copies are available outside the Salisbury Post office during business hours, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The Post is located at 131 W. Innes St.

The April edition’s cover features children on the playground at the Partners in Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center. Contributing writer Kris Mueller provides the story on Partners in Learning.

Elsewhere in the April edition look for stories on the Pray Rowan organization’s mission, the community-minded duo of Shari Graham and Hen Henderlite, the cake creations of Shameika Peebles, five places in Kannapolis you should know about and the hands-on science experience offered to Rowan County students by the Muddy Sneakers program.

Writers for these stories include Deirdre Parker Smith, Maggie Blackwell, Susan Shinn Turner and Carl Blankenship. Photographer Jon Lakey provides most of the images, along with the Through the Lens photo.

A rundown on Donna Peeler Poteat’s recent compilation related to the Salisbury Confederate Prison is included in Bookish. The Rowan Original features a Q&A with Jason Walser, executive director of the Blanche & Julian Robertson Foundation.

Artwork for April’s Salisbury’s the Place is provided by James Donaldson. Scene photos come from the Waterworks Oyster Roast, Catawba College’s First Pitch and Downtown Salisbury’s Wine About Winter.

A note: An April calendar of events is included, but virtually all of items listed have been canceled or postponed because of precautions taken for COVID-19. Please check with the organizations for more information.

Salisbury the Magazine publishes nine times a year. The May issue is on schedule and will be going to the printer this week. Look for it at the end of April.
