SALISBURY — A Salisbury man who was inside a van parked at a local park after hours was charged with crack cocaine possession, said Salisbury police spokesman Lee Walker.

Bradley Donnelle Wallace, 33, of the 1500 block of West Horah Street, was the passenger in a Chrysler Town & Country van that was located on Tuesday at City Park. Wallace was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance schedule II and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The park, which is located at 316 Lake Drive, closes at 7 p.m. and the vehicle and its occupants were there around 11 p.m., Walker said.

When the officer approached the van, the passenger, identified as Bradley Wallace, jumped out and said, “I didn’t do nothing,” Walker said.

The officer patted Wallace down and did not find anything on him, Walker said. The driver was also checked and no illegal substances or weapons were found. The officer searched the van and found a clear bag in the center console near where Bradley Wallace was sitting. The bag contained two crack rocks and a crack pipe.

Wallace was taken to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office and issued a $1,000 secured bond. He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
