SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the Rowan County Probation Department are looking for a Salisbury man who removed his electronic ankle monitoring device sometime on Wednesday, said Rowan County Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.

James Damien Mack, 46, of the 900 block of East Ridge Road, cut off the device around 7:17 p.m. The unit alerted probation officers that the device had been tampered with, Sifford said.

Probation officers went to the home around 8:40 p.m. to search for Mack. The device was found lying on his bed. Mack was on post-release probation for having a weapon as an inmate in Union County. On March 10, Rowan County officials went to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office to obtain a warrant for interfering with an electronic monitoring device for James Mack.

He has not been located as of Wednesday, Sifford said.

Mack has a number of felony and misdemeanor convictions that date to 1992 including common law robbery, assault on a female, assault on a child, assault with a deadly weapon, multiple driving infractions, possession of stolen goods, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700 or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
