Salisbury’s gyms and wellness centers have a problem with the lack of recycling options in their facilities.

Neither the YMCA nor the Forum have recycle bins. This may not sound like a big deal, but it is.

Those athletic facilities are likely responsible for a huge portion of Salisbury’s single use plastics — water bottles for example. Not only is recycling good for the environment, it also creates jobs. Those facilities should encourage recycling.

It should be noted that Planet Fitness has a recycle bin for its water bottles and sports drinks. So should the other facilities. It’s a shame that these bottles and other single use plastics are simply being thrown away. When its time to vote for the RoCo Gold Awards, I will remember those institutions that care about our environment.
