I was so pleased to read about the humanitarian award bestowed to Ms. Levonia Corry by her church in the Jan. 26 Salisbury Post (“Annual MLK awards recognize some of community’s best”).

This has been her passion before we even knew what being humanitarian was. She taught many of us at West Rowan High, where we got to know her. On behalf of myself and my classmates from the West Rowan Class of 1971, we congratulate you, Ms. Corry, on this accomplishment.

We were proud to call you our teacher and more proud to call you our friend. We hope to see you at our 50th reunion next year.
