Local youth runner earns All-America honors

Local runner Triston Rabon finished fifth in his age group in the AAU National Cross Country Championship, last month, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Rabon, 13, a 7th-grader at North Hills Christian School in Salisbury, ran the 4K (2.5-mile) course at Victor Ashe Park in 13:50.79, in a race that also included 14-year-olds. Rabon’s time earned All-America honors.
Rabon took fifth place among 13-year-olds and placed 12th with the older runners’ times included. Byron Grevious (13:26.19) had the top 13-year-old time while Caleb Hymans led the 14-year-olds at 13:22.88.
There were 248 young runners in the event.
Rabon’s coach, Kevin Marsh, supported Triston in Knoxville, along with his parents, Shane and Aimee Rabon.
