KANNAPOLIS — Bonsai hobbyists, gardeners, and art lovers all can enjoy the beauty of these small trees when bonsai artists and vendors display their trees.
For the 7th year, bonsai artists from all over the USA will exhibit their trees in the marble-lined domed atrium of the NC Research Campus, 150 N Research Campus Drive.
Newcomers and long-time hobbyists can attend free demos/lessons each day at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. taught by bonsai masters William Valavanis from New York, Rodney Clemons from Georgia, Owen Reich from Tennessee, and Tyler Sherrod from North Carolina. At 5 p.m. Saturday there will be a bonsai auction open to all.
Bonsai is an ancient art form, started in China, and later adopted by the Japanese. The word bonsai, in Japanese, means “tree in a pot.” The oldest trees in the USA were a gift from Japan to the US at the bicentennial of our country in 1976.

Admission and parking are free. Learn more at www.winterbonsai.net
