SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana wax and psychedelic mushrooms after a seven-month investigation, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathan Jud Griffin, 40, of the 400 block of Moon River Road, was charged with four counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; one count of maintaining a dwelling for drug trafficking; one count of possession of a firearm by a felon; one count of possession of psilocybin mushrooms; one count of manufacturing marijuana (wax); and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, officers from the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Investigations Unit and Crime Reduction Unit served a search warrant at the Moon River Road address. The search was based on an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Salisbury Police Department that determined Griffin was involved in the distribution of cocaine from his residence.

Investigators seized 24 grams of cocaine, quantities of marijuana wax, psilocybin mushrooms, and two Marlin .22 rifles. Griffin has a previous felony conviction and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Griffin was issued a $30,000 secure bond.

He was convicted on Nov. 19, 2001, on a charge of felonious possession of marijuana and on Oct. 12, 2016, for possession of a firearm by a felon.

The investigation is ongoing.
