SALISBURY – The Rowan County Local Reentry Council will celebrate a grand opening from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at 112 N. Main St.

The council is a nonprofit organization that helps create a seamless system of transition and reentry for people with criminal history. The council follows the N.C. Department of Public Safety’s reentry council model but gets no state funding.

The council provides administrative support, coordination and implementation of resources in the community to assist formerly incarcerated people, those under supervision and their families to facilitate a seamless transition from incarceration back into society.

Specifically, the council addresses three major service gaps; housing, transportation and employment.
