Rowan weather: Showers today, storms tonight

Showers are likely today, with patchy fog possible before 3 p.m. The high will be 68, with east wind around 5 mph this afternoon. The chance of rain is 70 percent, with less than a tenth of an inch expected.

Showers will increase tonight, with an 80 percent chance of rain. Thunderstorms are also possible, and could lead to heavy downpours and gusty winds. The low will be 63, with south wind at 5-9 mph. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible, with higher amounts in thunderstorms. Fog is also likely.

Thursday, with temperatures rising to 77 degrees, could see strong to severe thunderstorms. Winds will be south at 10-14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Expect heavy downpours, damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning. A tornado cannot be ruled out. The worst weather will likely be in the afternoon. A quarter inch or more rain is possible.

Thursday night has an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, as well, with storms tapering off before 1 a.m. The low will be 42, with south southwest wind at 8-14 mph shifting to the west northwest. Gusts could be as high as 24 mph. A quarter to half inch of rain is possible.

Friday will be sunny and cool, with a high of 60. Winds will be north northwest at 6-8 mph. It will be a clear night, with a low of 36, and a possibility of frost after 3 a.m.

Saturday starts with patchy frost, then will be sunny and 62. It will be mostly clear, with a low around 36. Patchy frost is possible after 3 a.m.

Sunday will be sunny and 58, with areas of frost before 9 a.m. The low will be 33, with frost after 11 p.m.

Monday will be sunny and 60. The low will be 41, with partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will be partly sunny and 64.
