More road closures, detours planned for I-85 project

SALISBURY — The contractor on the Interstate 85 project in Rowan County plans some upcoming night work that will require closing a ramp and a detour.

The contractor will  close southbound I-85 from Exit 70 (Webb Road) to Exit 68 (N.C. 152) between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Traffic on I-85 South will use a signed detour:, taking Exit 70 (Webb Road). At the top of the ramp, traffic will turn right onto Webb Road, travel and half mile to U.S. 29, then turn left onto U.S. 29 South for about 5 miles. Next is a left onto N.C. 152 East for about a quarter mile, then right onto the southbound I-85 ramp to reaccess I-85.

The contractor will close the on ramp to N.C. 152 from I-85 northbound between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday.

Traffic using N.C. 152 from I-85 northbound will use a signed detour, taking I-85 north to Exit 70 (Webb Road) and, at the top of the ramp, turning left onto Webb Road for 1,000 feet and turning left onto I-85 southbound ramp to reaccess I-85. Drivers will travel on I-85 for 1 mile to Exit 68 (N.C. 152) to access N.C. 152.
