Awards for cadet

Rian Burris, grandson of Susan and Ricky Burris of Kannapolis, has received several awards at The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina.

He was awarded Gold Stars for academic achievement during the spring semester. The award is one step higher than the Dean’s List. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or higher during the semester.
He was also named to the President’s List, one of the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. It indicates excellence in academics as well as military duties. The list is a combination of the Dean’s List and Commandant’s Distinguished List and includes cadets who contribute the most to their companies while maintaining excellent military and academic records.
