SPENCER — A gunman robbed the Circle K convenience store early Tuesday morning and left on foot. The suspect is believed to have tried to rob a Circle K in Salisbury about 30 minutes later, according to police reports.

The man entered the Spencer store at 12:19 a.m. wearing dark clothing, according to a report. His face was covered with a mask, but his hands were exposed. He pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.

She complied and the man left on foot toward Third Street, according to the Spencer Police Department. He is described as a black man with a medium build and about 5 foot 7 inches tall. The store is at 300 S. Salisbury Ave. in downtown Spencer.

Spencer police said there is a $1,000 reward being offered for information in the case.

Salisbury Police Department officials said a man with a similar description walked into the Circle K/Kangaroo Express, located at 2270 Statesville Blvd. The clerk ran, and the suspect ran out of the store.
