Letter: Let kids decide what they want to wear

I don’t think that all students should have to wear uniforms. I think that all schools should let kids choose to wear what they want. We don’t go to school to wear uniforms. We go to school to learn.
Also, people aren’t meant to look alike. Students should be able to express themselves by dressing the way they want to. All people are different, and clothing can explain people. For example, if you see someone at a job interview wearing a suit and tie, you can tell that person is serious and is trying to set a good impression. If someone shows up in sweatpants and a T-shirt, you’ll be able to see he doesn’t look like he’ll be able to do the work required.
Secondly, if a school like Erwin Middle took away uniforms, it’s only fair for other middle schools to take them away as well. We should be able to wear what we want and just make sure we are dressing appropriately so we don’t embarrass ourselves.
We also don’t want to have to sit in uncomfortable clothes all day. We want to wear comfortable clothes. So in the end, I believe that all middle schools should take away uniforms and let the kids decide what they want to wear instead of what teachers want.
