SALISBURY — A local man was charged with possession of methamphetamine after a deputy stopped him while he was riding a mo-ped.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Jonathan Dow Hartford, 46, with felony possession of a controlled substance Schedule II.

According to a report, Hartford was stopped Thursday at Sides and Gold Knob roads for failing to display a registration plate. The deputy discovered a plastic bag concealed in the seat of the mo-ped that contained a gram of meth.

Hartford remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Two Stanly County residents were issued citations Thursday for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 4400 block of River Road, Richfield.

• A man reported a burglary Thursday in the 100 block of Owens Drive.

• A woman reported an assault Thursday in the 400 block of Benjamin Trot Lane.

• While serving a warrant, deputies found drug paraphernalia in the 5500 block of East N.C. 152, Rockwell.

• A woman reported a theft Thursday from her property in the 300 block of Old Barn Road, Gold Hill.

• A woman reported Thursday that her belongings were stolen from her property in the 15400 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, Gold Hill.

• Joshua Martin Witman, 40, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in the 5500 block of East N.C. 152, Rockwell.

• Amber Lynn Aplin, 33, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in the 4400 block of River Road, Richfield.

• Kayla Danielle Bowers, 24, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in the 4400 block of River Road, Richfield.

In Salisbury Police Department reports:

• A woman reported Friday that her jewelry box was stolen from a bedroom in the 100 block of Malcolm Road.

• A man reported an assault Friday in the 200 block of Elm Street.

• A woman reported a break-in Saturday in the 1300 block of Tabernacle Street.

• A man reported Saturday that charges were made to his credit card without his permission in the 100 block of Summit Avenue.

• A woman reported a break-in Sunday in the 700 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

• A man reported vandalism Sunday in the 300 block of North Jackson Street.

• Salisbury Pediatrics reported Sunday that someone broke into a vehicle in the parking lot, 129 Woodson St.

• A man reported Sunday that a window was damaged by a BB gunshot in the 1900 block of East Innes Street.
