Salisbury Police officials say a local man was caught on an apartment complex surveillance camera waving a handgun around, which sent people running in a panic. Police were monitoring the cameras following a previous disturbance there.

Police charged Dontrell Correll Horne, 26, in the 100 block Henry Laurens Circle, with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor armed to the terror of the public, and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing.

There was a disturbance in the Zion Hills Apartment complex Monday and a police lieutenant was looking through surveillance video there and saw a live view of a man in the parking lot with a handgun and people running away from him. The man had his T-shirt in one hand waving it around and the gun in the other.

The police in the area were notified and arrested the man. Officials said there were no shots fired. Police are not sure if the earlier disturbance involved Dotrell Horne. The surveillance camera was erected by Zion Hills Apartment complex, but Salisbury Police have access to monitor it, explained Lt. Greg Beam.

He said there are a number of other cameras throughout the city that the police department has access to monitor. This is just a small part of the agency’s proposed real-time crime center that is part of its strategic goals.

He remains in the Rowan County Detention under a $2,500 secured bond.
