The Salisbury Civitan Club of Salisbury presented the 2019 Ernest Curtis Hero Award to Salisbury Police Sergeant Jennifer L Moreau.
This award is presented to a Rowan County resident “who has demonstrated heroism through an extraordinary, spontaneous act of bravery or courage, motivated by service to others.”
Salisbury Police Chief Jerry Stokes nominated Sergeant Moreau for her response to a robbery and hostage situation at a local grocery store.
Chief Stokes describes Sergeant Moreua’s actions as “an act of true bravery and courage.” By placing herself in harm’s way, she kept the situation from escalating and saved the lives of several citizens.
