Girl Scout gives lending library

Isabel Jones, a member of Girl Scout Cadettes of Trailblazers Troop #1816, has gifted Big Elm Ministries with a book lending library.

Big Elm Ministries is an outreach facility of Kannapolis Church of God that ministers to the community through health advocacy, food assistance, medical equipment and more.

Isabel and her sister Abigail began volunteering at the ministry when they were in the sixth grade and have been active volunteers since that time. They assist with food distribution at monthly food banks and help to organize items that have been donated.

“Isabel’s Lending Library” will provide different book options for clients and their children to take home, read and then bring back for others to enjoy. The bookshelf was organized by Isabel because she values literature and wanted to give back to the community. She loves to help people and believes that no one should be without a book.

The Silver Award will be presented to Isabel in September of 2019 as a result of this project. This award is given to those who implement the scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication and many years of service.
