The September issue of Salisbury the Magazine, a publication of the Salisbury Post, has reached subscribers and is available in locations throughout Rowan County.

This 37th edition also can be picked up at the Post, 131 W. Innes St.

The September cover features Keshun Sherrill, a standout basketball player at West Rowan High School and Augusta University who has continued his stellar hoops career in Europe, most recently as a professional player in the Netherlands.

Sportswriter Mike London provides an update on Sherrill’s basketball experience overseas.

Salisbury Motor Co., linked to the Clement family since its founding, also is featured in this issue. Today’s Clements describe some of the customer-first philosophies behind being a successful automobile dealership for 100 years.

Contributing writer Elizabeth Cook visits Bill and Lee Bailey and their 1830s Fisher-Cruse House in Rowan County. Contributing writer Kris Mueller offers an inside look behind The Smoke Pit, which has become one of Salisbury’s more popular downtown restaurants.

Deirdre Parker Smith spends time with Salisbury composer-musician Marc Hoffman, who has come up with his trademark venture — Musical Monograms — for putting anyone’s name to music.

Kathy Chaffin and photographer Jon C. Lakey take us to the Bullhole in Cooleemee, while Andie Foley catches up with the Dancing Queens and Kings, who combine line dancing and exercise with entertainment.

Smith also provides reading recommendations in Bookish. Mark Brown of the N.C. Transportation Museum is the subject of the Rowan Original Q&A.

Also look for a Through the Lens photo, a Salisbury’s the Place art contribution from Sue McHugh, a September calendar and Scene photos from China Grove Farmers Day, the Faith Fourth Parade, Waterworks Visual Arts Center’s Multicultural Fun Day and the Salisbury Pride Festival.

Salisbury the Magazine publishes nine times a year. To advertise or subscribe, visit the Post, call 704-797-POST or go to www.SalisburyThe Magazine.com.
