SALISBURY — A Rockwell woman faces numerous felony charges after she was accused of opening a number of credit-card accounts and routing money from the bank account of her son’s father to herself.

The father noted that the woman changed his online banking passwords.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Mondie Nichole Weber, 32, of the 8300 block of Old Beatty Ford Road, with one count of misdemeanor larceny; one count of felony forgery; one count of felony uttering a forged instrument; one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense;s and one count felony identity theft.

Those offenses occurred Aug. 8, authorities said.

Weber is also charged with 11 counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses; 11 counts of felony financial transaction fraud; one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia; and driving while license revoked.

Those offenses occurred Aug. 16.

Weber also was charged with 10 counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses and 10 counts of felony fraudulent deposits of money for incidents that occurred Aug. 17.

The father told investigators that his son’s mother gained access to his bank account and changed his online password, which locked him out of it. He reported the fraudulent activity as early as May 31.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Weber stole a personal check from his vehicle and cashed it. The father told investigators he received multiple emails from his bank notifying him of several account changes. He discovered several bill-paying accounts labeled “Mondie.”

Rowan officers said Weber obtained the father’s Social Security number and opened bank accounts in his name. Numerous transactions were made in his name that he did not initiate, authorities said.

Weber used several online banking services, including, Varo Bank, an online bank; Ria Money Transfer; FlashPay, which allows people to transfer money to and from prepaid accounts; MetaBank; Aspiration Bank; PayPal; SunTrust; Google Pay; and Facebook Messenger.

Weber was convicted earlier this year of felony possession of a controlled substance. She also has previous convictions for obtaining property by false pretenses, assault on a female, simple assault and driving infractions including driving while impaired and driving while license revoked.

She remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $45,000 secured bond.
