SALISBURY — The Salisbury-Rowan Community Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2019 grants program.

Applications must be submitted online by noon Sept. 13.

The foundation board will recognize projects that address community needs and benefit residents of Salisbury and Rowan County. Applicants should address arts and culture, public education, higher education, environment and human services.

David Snider, the foundation’s vice president and program officer, said the board will consider the community’s current needs when awarding the grants.

The foundation will accept proposals for as much as $10,000. The awards typically range from $2,500 to $8,000, and about 40 organization receive money.

The 2018 recipients included $8,00 to Appleseed Early Childhood Education for the ApSeed Project $4,000 to Family Crisis Council of Rowan Inc. for its individual counseling program; $1,300 to the Center for Faith & the Arts for its art gallery and performance art center; and $5,000 to the city of Salisbury for BlockWork.

Snider said the projects are funded through community donations so that money is staying in the community.

“The board really wants the money back in the community,” he said.

Grant recipients will be notified in early November.

Grant seekers can visit fftcgrants.communityforce.com and search for Salisbury-Rowan Community Foundation to access the online application. Past applicants can log in to the Online Grants Center using their previous account information. First-time applicants can create a new account.

Snider recommends that applications make a compelling argument why a grant should be awarded and explain why the organization’s work is important to the community.
