SALISBURY — Investigators continue to look into two fires intentionally set at a mobile home just days apart.

Fire crews responded to the home, located at 4110 Goodman Lake Road, about 4 a.m. Aug. 7 and returned 72 hours later on Saturday.

When firefighters arrived Aug. 7, the home was engulfed in flames.

A fire at the same home in June was started when a grandson was playing with a lighter.

The family decided to rebuild the damaged home and remained there until the Aug. 7 fire, fire officials said.

Fire Division Chief Deborah Horne said fire crews were called back to the home Saturday after someone burned another part of the mobile home.

She said the family, who had been living in a camper on the property, was able to partially extinguish the fire with a garden hose before firefighters arrived. The part that burned Saturday was the only part left standing after the Aug. 7 fire, Horne said.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office detectives and fire officials are both investigating the fire.

Horne said the mobile home was paid off but not insured.

The Red Cross is assisting the family and collecting monetary donations to help.
