… ‘Liar-victims’ can cause pain for accused
Sadly, in this day and age, all it takes is one vindictive client, student or loose acquaintance to ruin the life and reputation of someone.
The media, of course, play a role in this, as they report on the allegation, but never report as vigorously (if at all) when allegations are debunked as made up.

Casey Parsons to plead guilty
The rest of the family also involved in the horrible things they did to this little girl should also be charged.

Sandy was our butcher at Food Lion. He was nice and friendly, but as soon as his wife came around, he was like a different person, cold and withdrawn.
— Lynne Goodjohn
In my opinion, there shouldn’t have been a plea agreement.
With the amount of overwhelming evidence, they should have given her a trial and asked for the death penalty.
Life in prison is too good for her.
— Jatana Snider Jernigan
She had better hope she spends her time in solitary confinement. She will suffer greatly in general population.
— James Lambert
… Landis allegations look like pension spiking
All of the administration in Landis should have been fired when all of this started.
I feel like Mayor Mike Mahaley should be investigated as well.
— Lara Smith
The citizens of Landis should not vote for anyone who has been on previous boards.

How can any member of the current administration sleep at night, having contributed to the financial ruin of this town?

Community rallies at Bell Tower Green Park groundbreaking
I would like to know why use a company from Charlotte. Salisbury-Rowan County has many companies that could do the job. It would have kept money in community.
— Cynthia Hillard
The senior associate of that company — Land Design — is an East Rowan High School graduate.
— Meredith Knowles Abramson
This is why I love Salisbury so much. We all pull together and make great things happen. The design is quite remarkable also. This isn’t just going to be any downtown park. This one is going to be stellar.
— C.J. Peters
South Rowan High School brings “true-life shopping experience” …
This is overwhelmingly the best story I’ve read in a long time.
Not only are the students learning what it means to own a business from the ground up, but they are lovingly, and with respect, reaching out to their classmates who are less fortunate to make life a little easier for them.
— Gaynell Leazer Lambert
Roger Hosey to be Landis town manager
The buddy system is still at work in Landis. The new board should be hiring the new manager. Where was the application and interview process when this job was filled?
— Kenny Goodman
Let’s hear more about how the town contracts with Waste Pro to recycle and Waste Pro deciding, “Y’all aren’t doing this right, so we put it in the dump.”
— Ron Turbyfill
My turn, Michael Stringer: When did America’s war …
Thank you, Michael Stringer, for speaking truth about how unjust policies are continuing to cripple the impoverished from getting a leg up.
— Regina Dancy
Editorial: Has Landis board failed to learn from …
The other four board members are just about as stupid as they come.

This old saying has proven true 99% of the time: “Absolute power absolutely corrupts”
— Terry Rollins Sr.
Letter: Wake up, America, to President Trump’s lies
Trump condemned “racism, bigotry and white supremacy” during his speech at the White House last Monday morning. He also supported the red flag law and has asked for more scrutiny and intervention of those with mental health problems.
— Vera Cope
Large crowd turns out for meeting on West End Plaza renovations
I was hoping that when the county bought it, shopping and food would slip back in some of the places until they could figure out a plan. They need something that will bring people back to that side of town.
— Andrea Tesh
I would think that moving a few county offices that the public frequents to this mall may entice retail business owners to utilize the space, generating income for the county by renting and, in turn, allow the businesses to turn a profit.
— Darlene Mrenko Lewis
State law says Landis’ Porter would have to choose …
Once again, Landis finds itself in the news simply because the Board of Aldermen and Mayor Mike Mahaley didn’t have the sense to find out if they could legally do this before they jumped in and did it.
And now Mr. Porter has found himself in a situation he never should have been put in.
