ASHEBORO — Trevor Marsh pitched five strong innings in relief for the win and belted a decisive, three-run homer at McCrary Park to lead Randolph County Post 45 to a 6-4 win against Davidson County Post 8 in Sunday night’s Area III championship game.

Harris Jackson also produced a big game for Randolph. The leadoff man went 4-for-4 and homered in the first inning.

Both teams already had qualified for the state tournament that begins in Cherryville on Friday.

Randolph (30-7) won its fifth Area III championship in the last 13 seasons.
