Bridge work on Union Church Road shifting next week

On March 18, the DOT contractor closed a portion of Union Church Road in Rowan County to begin replacement of the bridge located near the Stokes Ferry Road end of Union Church Road.

This project is almost complete and this portion of Union Church Road is scheduled to be re-opened Monday morning, July 8. As soon as this portion of Union Church Road is opened, DOT will be closing the bridge located on the Bringle Ferry Road end of Union Church Road and begin replacement of that bridge structure.

The detour for the upcoming project is the same as for the current project.  Motorists will continue to use Bringle Ferry Road, Beagle Club Road and Stokes Ferry Road to travel around the construction site. The DOT contractor will simply move the road closure barricades from the first bridge site to the second site, between the hours of 8 and 9 a.m., Monday morning.

Replacing the bridge near the Bringle Ferry Road end of Union Church Road is scheduled for 90 days, resulting in a completion date of Oct. 5. If the work is completed sooner, the roadway will be opened at that time.
