Marlin 50th Anniversary

On June 8, 2019 at 5 p.m., Rev. Clarence Marlin and Evangelist Cathye Verdell Marlin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows service followed by a reception with 275 guests in attendance. Hosted by their children and others, it was held at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Association Convention Center in East Spencer. Rev. John Jones, Pastor of United Baptist Church in Kannapolis, officiated the ceremony.

The Marlins were married June 7, 1969 by Rev. James Stowe at a house wedding at the home of her sister, Mrs. Marianne Verdell Kelly and brother-in-law, Rev. Parnell Kelly.

Rev. Marlin is retired from the City of Salisbury in 2005 after more than 30 years of service. He was the supervisor of the sanitation department.
The Marlins have three children, Kendall Marlin of Greenville, S.C., Kishja Marlin of Salisbury and Cory Marlin of Salisbury. They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
