I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that there wasn’t an outpouring of supportive comments regarding the story about Bishop Russell Smyre’s “Every Father Initiative” published June 11 (“Bishop focuses on training fathers for life”).

Bishop Smyre’s own family are examples of the benefits of the principles his course teaches — educating and equipping for a strong father-presence in the home.

America’s political enemies are using social media to inflame both sides of divisive issues to create dissension and division. Wouldn’t it be great if, instead of taking up their mantles, rubbing salt in old wounds and weaponizing history, the mayor, city council and the much-misnomered “Salisbury Indivisible” instead held meetings to initiate Bishop Smyre’s class into every high school student’s education?

Imagine the potential benefits across all socio-economic and cultural segments of our society.
