Rowan weather: Get out the galoshes

OK, have your umbrella and raincoat handy for the next several days as we go into a period of rain and thunderstorms.

Today we can expect bands of heavy rain showers with embedded thunderstorms, with locally heavy rainfall and plenty of lightning. Storms will become stronger in the afternoon and overnight. Flash flooding is a possibility over the next few days.

Saturday night still has an 80 percent chance of showers and storms. The low will be 65, with east northeast wind at 7-9 mph. Three-quarters to an inch of rain is possible.

Expect showers before 9 a.m. Sunday, then showers and thunderstorms after that. The chance of rain is 80 percent. The high will be 77, with east wind at 6-8 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday night, still with an 80 percent chance of rain. Storms will taper off later in the evening. The low will be 67.

Monday does not bring much change. The high will be 80, with the same 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The chance for showers and storms goes down to 70 percent Monday night, with storms more likely before 2 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 67.

Tuesday’s chance of showers and thunderstorms will be 50 percent. It will be mostly cloudy and 79. The chance of showers drops to 40 percent Tuesday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 62.

Wednesday will also have a 40 percent chance of showers. It will be mostly cloudy and 77. Wednesday night’s low will be 62, with a 30 percent chance of showers.

Thursday will also have a 30 percent chance of showers. It will be partly sunny and 80.
