ROCKWELL — It’s a busy time at Nazareth Child & Family Connection these days as final preparations are being made for the organization’s 113 Annual Fun Fest, set for June 1.
Planning for the day-long event, which includes everything from a car show to a cornhole tournament to funnel cakes and much more, has been underway for months. Now just the finishing touches remain before the action begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The Fun Fest, the agency’s largest fundraiser each year, gives the public a chance for an up-close look at Nazareth’s beautiful campus. Admission is free.
First there’s the big prize, which is actually the last item on the day’s schedule: the drawing for a new Ford Focus or $10,000 in cash, donated by Cloninger Ford Toyota of Salisbury.
Raffle tickets for the Ford Focus or $10,000 can be purchased on line at www.nazcfc.org or by visiting the agency’s Outlet and Thrift Store on Innes Street. To purchase tickets over the phone call Blair Wilson at 704-754-3802. Tickets will be sold on site during Fun Fest.

The glitziest part of the day will be the annual classic car show, featuring more than 180 cars entered, sprawled across several acres.
Awards will be presented in a half-dozen different categories, including the top-40 cars, best of show, best of interior, best of paint, best engine and ladies’ choice.

The afternoon will be filled with live music featuring Jukebox Rehab and Darrell Harwood.

There will also be a craft and vendor show, a cornhole tournament, a kids’ zone, a silent auction featuring more thaan 100 items from local businesses and vendors donated including sports paraphernalia from N.C. State, the Carolina Hurricanes, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Carolina Panthers. And of course, there will be lots of food options.
