Fairview Heights Outreach Ministry

The Outreach Ministry of Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, will be at Brightmoor Nursing Center, 610 W. Fisher St., at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25. Speaker: Minister Faye Howell, associate minister of Fairview Heights.

Jerusalem Baptist anniversary celebration

Jerusalem Baptist Church will begin a two-day celebration of the 18th anniversary of Pastor and First Lady Rev. Dr. David Bracken and Jackie Bracken on Saturday, May 25, at noon with a pastoral luncheon at the Aymer Center of Hood theological Seminary. Attire is casual; no jeans, no shorts.

On Sunday during the 11 a.m. service, the celebration continues with a tribute to the pastor. Speaker for the occasion will be Rev. Dr. Robert Anderson, pastor of St. Paul Community Baptist Church of Charlotte.

Special music will be provided by the mass choir of Jerusalem.

Women’s Day at Oak Grove

CHINA GROVE — Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1205 S. Main St., will observe its annual Women’s Day on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Tiffany Miller from Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury. All ladies are asked to wear white. Host pastor is Rev. Dr. Keith Curry.

Rose of Sharon Church, 255 Camp Road, will host guest speaker Evangelist Cathye Marlin of Fairview Heights Baptist Church on Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m.

TOP Men’s Prayer Breakfast 

The men of the Tower Of Power Church at 601 E. Cemetery Street, Salisbury, will host their monthly prayer breakfast this Saturday, May 25, at 8 a.m. The speaker for this free, full breakfast event will be Bishop Harvey L. Gospel Travelier’s anniversary

The Gospel Travelier’s will celebrate its 37th anniversary Saturday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m. Various local groups will be on the program.

Smith Chapel Apostolic Holiness Church, 1735 Mt. Tabor Church Road, Cleveland, will have its annual Family and Friends Day, Sunday, May 26. The theme is Together We Stand.

Come Together benefit concert

On Saturday, May 25, at Sills Creek AME Zion Church in Mooresville, groups will come together to help offset medical expenses for the Rev. Kenneth Rudolph Cornelius, pastor of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church, Rockingham.

Cornelius, lead singer of the Mighty Pilgrimaires gospel group, suffered a stroke April 13 and is receiving care at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Various gospel groups will appear at Wesley Chapel, 3165 Bradshaw Road, Mooresville.  Roland Cante will be master of ceremonies and the Rev. Dr. Karen Miller is host pastor. For more information, call 704-315-1277.

Hall’s Chapel

Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., will celebrate the 29th anniversary of Elder Richard L. Johnson at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 26.

Cedar Grove AME Zion

A Family and Friends Service will be held at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church, Cleveland, on Saturday, May 25, at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor of St. Stephens AME Zion Church, Gastonia, will be the guest speaker. The Echoes for Christ of Salisbury will minister in song. The Rev. Dr. Bertha Pittman is the host pastor.

Dorsett Chapel UCC

Henderson Grove

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave., will observe Unity Sunday at the 11 a.m. service and will also recognize men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Friendship Baptist
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Cooleemee, will celebrate the 17th anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. Dr. Ervin Baker, on Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.
The speaker for the anniversary service will be the Rev. James E. Cook, pastor of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, along with the congregation.
Erwin Temple CME
The Twelve Tribes of Israel program will be presented at Erwin Temple CME Church Sunday at 3 p.m. This will be given by the Pastor’s Aide Ministry.
Area guest churches are invited to participate in representing the different tribes. They are: Liberty AMEZ, Cooleemee; Friendship Baptist, Cooleemee; New Shepherd Baptist, Cooleemee; Mount Vernon Presbyterian, Woodleaf; Moore’s Chapel AMEZ, Woodleaf; and New Bethel Baptist, U.S. 601 South.
Gospel singing will be provided during the program by the different church groups. The Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. is pastor of Erwin Temple CME Church.

Shady Grove Baptist
Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the installation of pastor James A. Ledbetter III with services May 31-June 2.
Bishop Sir Walter Mack of Union Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, will be the speaker May 31 at 8 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Nilous M. Avery II of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will speak June 1 at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, June 2, Bishop Tavaris Johnson of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Cameron, will speak at 11 a.m.
At 3 p.m., at Livingstone College department of hospitality and culinary arts, Dr. Thomas A. Banister III of Temple Memorial Baptist Church, High Point, will be the speaker. The event will be at 530 Jake Alexander Blvd. S.
