Catawba College students nominated for Carolina Music Awards

Catawba College students and alumni have been nominated for Carolina Music Awards, which recognize Carolina artists in rock, hip hop, youth, bluegrass, Americana, country and R&B.

Awards will be announced at Carolina Music Awards show on Aug. 17 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh. Voting is under way until July 12 on the CMA’s website, carolinamusicawards.com.

The awards program, now in its 12th year, is focused on developing the music industry in the Carolinas, while encouraging growth in present and future music of the two states.

Catawba students and alumni who received nominations include Lisette Rodriguez, Class of ’19, Best Rock Female; Taylor Mason, current student, Best Country Female; Dustin Chapman, Class of ’19, Best Country Male; Destiny Stone, Class of ’18, Best R&B Female; and Bergenline, comprised of Ariel Cortez, Carlo Cortex and Oscar Castillo, Class of ’18, Best Rock Group.
