Woman shot Monday night near Union Heights and Crown Point boulevards

SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman is in stable condition after being shot Monday night, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

No suspect has been arrested, officials said Tuesday.

Police said Debra Jane Hodges, 49, was shot once in the upper chest while near the intersection of Union Heights and Crown Point boulevards. Officers administered first aid to her until Salisbury Fire Department and Rowan EMS crews arrived.

Police investigators said the shooting was not random and believe Hodges was the intended target. No motive was given.

Police were called to the scene at 9:15 p.m. and found Hodges conscious and alert. She was taken by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for treatment.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective J. Hill at 704-216-2732 or Salisbury-Rowan CrimeStoppers at 866-639-5245. Tips can also be sent to the Police Department by Facebook Messenger.
