Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home offers two $1,000 scholarships

STATESVILLE — Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home will once again award two scholarships of $1,000 each during an annual memorial service at 5;30 p.m. June 23 in Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel.

Scholarship applications may be picked up at the office at 603 S. Church St. in Statesville.

Applications must be postmarked on or before April 30 and mailed to Rutledge and Bigham Memorial Scholarship Committee, Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary Inc., 603 S. Center St., Statesville, NC 28677.

Spencer Library to host Celebrate Children

SPENCER — The Spencer Library will host Celebrate Children from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4 in the library park gazebo, 300 Fourth St.

The celebration will feature musicians Jacob Klutz, Greg Luster and Mia Mason, as well as previews of the North Rowan High School drama “The Lion King Jr.” Puppet shows and face painting will also be presented.

Celebrate Children is sponsored by Barnhardt Jewelers, Band Attic, Mary Mae’s and Little Choo-Choo Shop.
