SALISBURY — The release party for “Let Your Light So Shine” is set for 6 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Peeler Hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St.

Written by St. John’s member Julie Carr, this faith-based memoir tells the story of Carr’s journey as a stage 4 lung cancer survivor.

The book costs $20, with all proceeds donated to charity. The book was published through a grant from the St. John’s Benevolent Foundation, as well as donations from church members. It will be available for sale in the church’s gift shop, Season’s Gifts.

During the event, Carr, a non-smoker, will talk about her experiences with cancer, and the importance of lung cancer research. Following a question and answer session, Carr will sign copies of her book.

This event is free, and light refreshments will be served. Please visit the “Let Your Light So Shine” Facebook page to RSVP so that the refreshment committee may plan accordingly.

A native of Minnesota, Carr lives in Salisbury with her husband, David, and their son, Dawson.

Following Friday’s event, Carr will be available to speak to local churches and civic organizations.

If you would like to order a book, or you are interested in having Carr speak to your group, please email her at juliedawnblair@yahoo.com.
