Letter: Leaders must stand up to escalating hatred, violence

White supremacy is the racist belief that white people are superior to people of other races and, therefore, should be dominant over them. White supremacy is not OK. It is just wrong.

Fifty Muslims were killed and many more injured by a while supremacist at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Eleven Jewish people were killed and seven more injured by a white supremacist at the Tree of Life Congregation in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nine African Americans were killed and three more injured by a white supremacist at the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Immigrants at the southern border are referred to as invaders.

I serve a loving God who created all people in various shades of black, brown and white. He gave us a commandment to love one another as He has loved us. What God does a white supremacist serve?

We must respect all people, even those who have different religious beliefs and practices. We must honor all God’s children and treat them as we would want to be treated.

White supremacy does not belong in our society. It does not belong in any society. Our leaders must stand up and condemn this escalating hatred and violence.
