Old Shoes Help Rescue Horses

Submitted

Your old shoes help a nonprofit animal rescue and pull families out of poverty.

Midnight’s Promise, a local horse rescue in Rowan County, is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser from April 4- June 3 to raise funds to pay for the costs of taking care of horses rescued from abuse, neglect and slaughter until they are adopted into loving homes. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes.

Midnight’s Promise will receive a check from Funds2Orgs based upon the weight of the total shoes collected. All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families.

“Not only does the shoe drive help a local rescue and families around the world, it also helps keep wearable shoes from ending up in landfills here in the U.S. It’s a win-win-win situation for all.” says Deborah Baker, president of Midnight’s Promise.

Shoes can be dropped off on the porch at Happy Roots, 1026 S Fulton St., anytime or call Deborah Baker of Midnight’s Promise at 704- 798-6641 to arrange for pick up or to drop off at the rescue.
