SALISBURY — A man and woman were charged with drug possession after a police officer spotted them early Monday morning sitting in a hotel parking lot.

The Salisbury Police Department charged Jeffrey Ian Coe, 23, of the 1000 block of Tammys Park Road, with misdemeanor resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer; misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule VI; misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; and misdemeanor failure to appear or comply.

He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.

Kendall Leanne Galloway, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance Schedule I. She remains in the county jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

Officers spotted Coe and Galloway sitting in a car about 4 a.m. in the parking lot of Courtyard Marriott, 120 Marriott Circle. Coe admitted to the officer that he was high, according to a report. He was searched and officers found a plastic bag of marijuana in his coat pocket and a coin purse with a crystal-like substance in the driver’s side door of the vehicle.

Police said Coe gave officers an incorrect date of birth and was charged with resisting arrest.
