A Post reader asked what is happening to the vacant Durafiber plant, located at 7401 Statesville Road, and how the Rowan County Economic Development Commission is working to fill it.
The property was purchased about a year ago by Forsite Development, said Houston Roberts, who manages the property for Forsite, an industrial facility redevelopment company. The property is now titled to a subsidiary of Forsite, Salisbury Investments I LLC, he said.
According to the property’s deed, the acquisition happened after DuraFiber Technologies filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
The EDC is actively working to market the property, said Scott Shelton, the agency’s vice president.
Asked if there is a particular buyer in mind, Roberts said at this time there is no formal plan and it “depends who comes along.” The EDC is open to selling the property as parcels or as one tract.
Roberts said Forsite is communicating with the EDC on the property, and Shelton said Forsite specializes in these types of properties.
The property is listed on the commercial property reality websites Loopnet and Costar, Roberts said.
