Sacred Heart Catholic School

Sacred Heart Catholic School has named the following students “Distinguished Disciples” for the month of March:
• Kindergarten: Colten Bullard and Maddie Shirhall.
• First grade: Eleanor Fernandez and Joseph Pryor.
• Second grade: Osmar Monroy and Cielo Trujillo.
• Third grade: Bennett Brinkley and Maddy Shores.
• Fourth grade: Josephina Huynh and Mia Villalobos.
• Fifth grade: Malaysia Dillard and Brad Peeples.
• Sixth grade: Maddison Glenn and Hannah Lineberry.
• Seventh grade: Nick Loeblein and Jacob Shores.
• Eighth grade: Jafet Tavera and Miquel Villalobos.

University of North Carolina at Pembroke

Avery Locklear of Landis, a senior on the University of North Carolina at Pembroke women’s basketball team, has been named Campus Engagement and Leadership’s student of the month for March.

The student spotlight program recognizes students who meet the standards of commitment, personal responsibility and accountability, and passion for everyday leadership.

Locklear was also recently awarded the Mike and Amy Wood Foundation Graduate Scholarship at the Peach Belt Conference awards banquet in Augusta, Georgia.

She is also one of five student athletes in the NCAA Southeast Region, as well as the only Peach Belt Conference player, to be named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team.
