PPCB presents patriotic Spring concert
4 p.m. March 24
KANNAPOLIS — The Piedmont Primetime Community Band is having its Spring concert, “Land of the Free…Because of the Brave,” on Sunday, in the auditorium at Kannapolis Middle School.
Veterans and active military members of all armed forces will be recognized as special guests. The band features 50 volunteer musicians from the Piedmont region, and is directed by Jason Partridge.
The concert is free but donations are much appreciated and will be gratefully accepted.
The Piedmont Primetime Community Band will also be performing for the closing ceremony for the 49 Days of Gratitude on March 30.

Call for artists
MOORESVILLE — Mooresville Arts’ 41st Springfest judged art exhibit is April and May at the Mooresville Arts Gallery, 103 W. Center St.
The exhibit is open to artists age 18 and older. Intake is March 29-30. Awards and reception is 5-8 p.m. April 12.
Each artist may submit three entries. Work must have been completed after April 1, and not entered in any previously judged or juried exhibit sponsored by Mooresville Arts.

The library card design contest for the new Cleveland West Branch is winding down. Submit entries at any RPL branch by end of business day Monday. Open to artists of all ages and experience levels. Improv Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte’s “Best of the Best” improv comedy troupe (according to readers of Charlotte Magazine and Creative Loafing) is partnering with Free Range Brewing, 2320 N. Davidson St., to provide a home for its monthly comedy shows throughout 2019.
Performances are intellectually satisfying, laugh-out-loud funny, suitable for any age; and all their profits are given to local charities.
Proceeds for shows on March 23 go toward Project/Alive, a national charity with ties to Charlotte that seeks to find a cure for Hunter’s Syndrome.
Subsequent shows for 2019 are April 27, May 10, June 14, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov.8 and Dec. 13.
