On Sunday, March 17 there will be an Installation Service for Rev. Brian Hancock at the 11 a.m. worship service.
There will be a covered dish reception meal afterward.
Pastor Hancock was selected to be the full time pastor of Neel Road Baptist Church in Salisbury.
Rev. Hancock was previously the interim pastor and also the youth minister. His wife is Leighann. We are delighted to have you both. Everyone is invited to join us for this happy occasion.

Luncheon today at Sandy Ridge
LANDIS — Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church, 1425 Mt. Moriah Church Road, hosts a senior’s luncheon today from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., sponsored by the local Social Concerns and Political Action Committee.

Tower of Power annual Gospel Concert
Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery St., presents its third annual Gospel Concert at 3 p.m. on Saturday, featuring J Soul and God’s Creation, Gospel Keynotes, Unity & Praise, Tyquan Altson, Anothy Bowan, Keith Holland & Friends and Gospel Travelers. During the month of March Word of Life Family Worship Center will recognize and honor Rev. Dr. Martha Starks’ 40th pastoral anniversary.

Hahn to perform in recital
Jacob Hahn of John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 1620 Brenner Ave., will present a recital in the fellowship hall on Saturday at 7 p.m. The recital will be a preview of his doctoral degree recital for UNC-Greensboro.
Hahn is also a piano instructor at Catawba College.

Youth of Sandy Ridge lead the service
LANDIS — The Young Adults in Christian Ministry of Sandy Ridge AME Zion, 1425 Mt. Moriah Church Road, will be in charge of the 10 a.m. Sunday service. There will be ministry through Silent Voice Mime, and the speaker will be Rev. Terry L. Jackson Jr.

Sills Creek celebrates 147 years
MOORESVILLE — Sills Creek AME Zion Church, at Highway 150 and 3165 Bradshaw Road, is celebrating its 147th church anniversary on Sunday. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
The 10 a.m. guest preacher is Rev. Dr. Calvin L. Miller, Presiding Elder of the Winston Salem District of the AME Zion Church and spouse of Dr. Karen Roberts Miller. Miller was the first chairman of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Family Resource Center and has been active with several community organizations. He has been an instructor at Livingstone College and has taught Basic Education at the Rowan Technical College, and Piedmont Correctional Center. Miller, who is a former pastor of Sills Creek, will also celebrate his 41st year in the ministry on Sunday.
The 3 p.m. guest preacher is Rev. Robert Kelley Jr., retired gunnery sergeant and veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kelley is currently the pastor of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church.

Servants Call in concert at Lakeview
KANNAPOLIS — Lakeview Baptist Church, 2532 Lane St., hosts the group Servants Call in a free concert on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Mission Day at Jerusalem Baptist
Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1570 N. Long St., will celebrate Mission Day on Sunday during the 11 a.m. service. Guest speaker will be Dr. Gregory K. Moss Sr., retired pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church with a membership of more than 5,000. Having been president of the General Baptist State Convention of NC, and vice president of Lott Carey Foreign Missions, he is now the interim executive secretary treasurer of the Lott Carey Foundation, headquartered in Landover, Md.
Jerusalem’s outreach missionary continues to support local agencies with donations of socks, winter gear and personal hygiene items.
Music will be provided by the JBC mass Choir. Rev. Dr. David Bracken is host pastor. All women in attendance are asked to wear white.

Anniversary service at Shady Grove
EAST SPENCER — The Deacons and Deaconesses of Shady Grove Baptist Church, 600 S. Long St., will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Rick Galloway, pastor of Dorsett Chapel United Christian Church, will render the service.

Twelve Tribes service at Hall’s Temple
Hall’s Temple Holiness Church hosts its annual Twelve Tribes program on Sunday at 3 p.m. Bishop Tyrone Washington from New Freedom Holiness Church is the speaker for the occasion.

Crown In Glory youth present program
The youth of Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, 517 E. Bank St., will offer an African American history program at 4 p.m. on Sunday, presenting information about the great African American migration from the south to the north in the early decades of the 20th century, plus a skit about changes in African American history and some less well known persons who helped make the changes possible. Theonia Richardson is program director.

Holy Week at First UCC
First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St., presents Walking Through Holy Week, examining what happened between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Weekly speakers present the events of a different day of Holy Week. Sunday’s journey continues with the Rev. Sharon Grant of Hood Seminary, speaking on the topic of Tuesday of Holy Week.

RBA county wide revival
The Rowan Southern Baptist Association County Wide Revival runs Sunday through Tuesday, March 17-19, at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church 817 South Main St., featuring speaker Dr. Jeff Isenhour.
Dr. Isenhour has been the senior pastor at Arran Lake Baptist Church in Fayetteville since 1989.
Servcies are at 6 p.m. Sunday with music by Trading Ford Baptist Church;
7 p.m. Monday with music by China Grove First Baptist;
7 p.m. Tuesday with music by Rockwell First Baptist.

Joint UMA service
EAST SPENCER — The United Ministerial Alliance will host its joint worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St.
Rev. Anthony Williams, pastor of Tower of Power United Holy Church, will deliver the message. Bishop W. Ronald Hash is host pastor.
The UMA’s business meeting is at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery St.

Lenten Music & Meditation
Brief Lenten services of Music and Meditation are offered by St. John’s during the lunch hour in the chapel, 200 West Innes St.
Next services are March 18, and 25 from 12:15-12:45 p.m. and include prayer and meditation plus and special music by Sacha Witt, trombone (March 18); and Rosemary Kinard, flute and Rob Durocher, piano (March 25).

Lent at Haven Lutheran
Haven Lutheran Church, 207 W. Harrison St., will be participating in an ecumenical Lenten Bible study on Wednesdays during the Lenten season. Denominations participating include Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, and Methodist.
There will be a light meal served each Wednesday beginning at 6:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. The services continue each Wednesday through April 10.

Loss of a Spouse seminar
MOORESVILLE — Loss of a Spouse is a 2-hour seminar for people grieving a spouse’s death. It will be held on March 23 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Shearer Presbyterian Church, 684 Presbyterian Road.
The seminar features a video with practical, encouraging advice from counselors, pastors, and widowed men and women, followed by a small-group sharing time.
Learn what to expect in the days ahead, how to handle the loneliness, what to do with your spouse’s belongings, and how to find the strength to go on.
