SALISBURY — As part of the 49 Days of Gratitude celebration, Tammy Grinshpon, the daughter of renowned Holocaust survivor Ela Weissberger, will visit Temple Israel on March 17.
The program, starting at 3 p.m., is free and open to the public. Temple Israel is at 1600 Brenner Ave. at the corner of Brenner and South Link avenues, across from the main entrance of the Hefner VA Medical Center.
Grinshpon will share her late mother’s legacy and describe what life in the concentration camps was like.
Weissberger shared her story of survival through speaking engagements as well as in her autobiography, “The Cat With the Yellow Star: Coming of Age in Terezin.”
Portions of a webcast featuring Weissberger will be shown. The program also relates to “The Butterfly Project” in which most of Rowan County’s middle schoolers are participating.
