China Grove man charged in restaurant break-ins

CONCORD — A China Grove man was charged with breaking into two Concord restaurants after a six-month investigation by the Concord Police Department.

Vernon Jerome Thompson, 43, was charged with nine counts of felony breaking and entering and four counts of larceny after breaking and entering.

The arrest of Thompson was the result of an investigation by the Concord Police Department into a series of break-ins at two local Breakfast Time restaurants, located at 1170 NE Copperfield Blvd. and 750 W. Cabarrus Ave.

Thompson was identified as a suspect on the basis of forensic testing of evidence collected after the break-ins.

Thompson was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

He is being held in the Cabarrus County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Concord police are continuing to follow up on information about the break-ins.
