In honor of the “49 Days of Gratitude” celebration of thanks, the Liberty Street Window Gallery at Waterworks Visual Arts Center is now occupied with silly city buildings, silly homes, silly farms, silly churches, and the silly railroad that connects them. This “Silly City” was created by North Rowan Middle School students, whose teachers were introduced to the Silly City concept at Waterworks during a workshop administered by Fresh Artists in November 2017. NRMS students visited the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer for a tactile adventure enhanced by a guided historical narrative, which inspired the drawings that illustrate their story of Rowan County.
Stroll by the Liberty Street windows of Waterworks Visual Arts Center to visit the 49 Days of Gratitude Silly City Artists’ Exhibition. For more information about the project visit www.waterworks.org/exhibitions/49daysofgratitude
