Letter: Dems and GOP should both get due process
I am highly conservative, but I’m not taking sides here, except in the defense of due process.
In this particular case, an elected government official seems to have run wildly astray. I read in The Washington Post that a democratic lawmaker is introducing a bill to impeach the lieutenant governor of Virginia due to allegations of sexual assault when he was 20. While I’m not a lawyer, I have studied a fair amount of the U.S. Constitution, and I’m pretty sure that an accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The same thing happened to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. I just cannot believe this sham, Democratic Party or not, and the rush to remove a duly elected official, regardless of his party affiliation, without a fair hearing.
